Boy Dies, Comes Back, Says Jesus Gave Him a Message for the World

On October 19, 1997, Landon Whitley was coming home from church with his parents in the backseat when disaster struck. “I didn’t see what he was yelling at,” Whitley said. He yelled, but I didn’t see the ambulance approaching.

According to Fox News, Julie Kemp, Landon’s mother, stated, “That was the last thing I heard from him.” The ambulance she mentions broadsided their car in a crossroads, and the “he” she refers to was her husband Andy.

When Landon was finally located, his respiration had stopped. After immediate resuscitation, he was airlifted to a hospital but lost his life twice more, only to be revived each time. Julie, his mother, recalled being told that if he survived, he would be like an 8-year-old baby due to severe brain damage. Despite this grim outlook, she was desperate to have him back.

Amidst her husband’s funeral, Julie felt abandoned by God but continued to pray fervently for Landon’s survival. Miraculously, two weeks later, Landon opened his eyes, and to everyone’s surprise, he had no brain damage. However, Julie had to break the heartbreaking news of his father’s passing.

Landon, who had seen his father in paradise, also described seeing siblings he never knew he had—two children Julie had miscarried before his birth. Decades later, Landon continues to share the message he claims Jesus gave him during his experiences in heaven. He emphasizes that angels and heaven are real and encourages others to live faithfully.

Landon and Julie now use their story to help others dealing with loss and grief, sharing hope and faith as they carry out what they believe is their divine purpose. Julie reflects on how her journey has transformed her grief into a source of inspiration for others.
