Those who are considered to be underdogs are often given too little credit for the work that they put out. One of these characters in the entertainment sector, Vincent D’Onofrio, has been working in the industry for a very long time. There is adequate evidence to suggest that he is, in fact, one of the finest performers to ever work in the industry.

1959 was the year of Vincent’s birth. Young Vincent developed an interest in the theatrical business throughout the 1970s and actively pursued jobs in neighborhood theaters as a result of this enthusiasm. He did not step out from behind the scenes until after he had graduated from high school and was ready to take on stage activities and responsibilities. After realizing that this was going to be his life’s work, Vincent spent the following few years actively engaging in theater shows put on by students at New York University.

Vincent worked as a bouncer at the Hard Rock Café and also served as a bodyguard for Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin during his spare time. Both of these employees were part-time positions for Vincent. To add insult to injury, it was only the beginning.

It wasn’t until 1987 that he got his big break. The overweight Pvt. Leonard Lawrence’s role that he played in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket was his first major role, and it’s likely the movie that most people remember him from. The article in The Telegraph claims that in order for Vincent to portray the role of the clumsy Marine, he really acquired a record-breaking 70 pounds.
