Fur Mom’s ‘Urban Wolf’ Obsessing Over Koi Pond Is Too Cute

Big dogs are a lot to handle, but one thing’s for sure: they’re adorable. Energetic, fluffy, and curious as anything, a big dog is a special kind of cool. There’s nothing better than when something piques a big dog’s interest!

In this video, we can see a “wolf dog” who is seriously fascinated by a koi pond:

Do you think Hati the urban wolf thinks that the koi fish are just very small dogs? Or does she think she’s a very big fish?

Hati is described by her owner as an “urban wolf,” but she’s actually a Shepsky:

  • Husky
  • German Shepherd
  • (Apparently also a little bit of Malamute)

She’s gorgeous: she has the trademark heterochromia (different colored eyes) that huskies are known to have. She also has the thick double coat, though she takes after her shepherd more with her coat coloring. If you didn’t know any better, you might believe that Hati was actually a wolf breed!

Wolf breeds are becoming a little more common these days. They, like most other things, gained popularity on social media. Wold breeds are incredibly hard to care for, though; they require near constant attention, meticulous training, a perfect diet, and tons of exercise. Otherwise, they’re near impossible to handle, which is why so many of them end up in shelters.

Hati is not a wolf breed, she only looks like a wolf. That’s not to say that a Shepsky is easy to care for: you’ve taken three of the most advanced breeds and put them together. It’s no walk in the park!

They’re very naturally curious, and both huskies and shepherds have very high prey drives. The koi fish could be triggering that side of Hati, which is why she watches them so intently. Hati’s caretaker seems to have done an amazing job with her: other, less well-trained dogs might have just gone after them, but not her. She’s so respectful!
