If Humans Went Extinct, What Would The Earth Look Like One Year Later
If humans suddenly disappeared, the world would undergo striking changes within just one year. The first noticeable difference would be the silence, as all human-made noise—cars, machinery, and planes—would cease. The air would become clearer and skies bluer, with no pollution from human activity.
Inside homes, there would be no water since water systems require constant maintenance, and pipes would freeze and burst during winter. Electricity would be gone, as power plants would shut down without people to fuel and monitor them. Dust would settle heavily in homes as ventilation systems stop, making the air still.
Outside, lawns would grow unchecked, with tall grass and new weeds taking over. Trees and plants would begin to sprout in yards, with no one to trim or remove them. Insects would flourish without humans to control their populations, and pests that were once kept at bay would return in larger numbers.
Neighborhoods would see more wildlife roaming freely, as animals venture into cities and towns with no humans to deter them. Nature would slowly reclaim urban spaces, with vegetation creeping into buildings and streets, and the built environment deteriorating without human upkeep.
