Ricky Martin’s twins are all grown up, and they’re the spitting image of their father
Ricky Martin is one of the most iconic singers of his generation. The Puerto Rican singer is known for his gorgeous looks and sultry vocals. Now, at 52 years old, the singer is a father of four.
His older children are now well into their teenage years and have a strong resemblance to their famous dad. Keep reading to see what they look like now!
Ricky Martin had wanted to be a father for a long time but his sexuality did not make the journey easy. The singer said about his dream, “Many years I dreamt of being a father, and many, many, many times I went through this grieving process of ‘I am gay, I am a closeted gay man, and I’m not going to be able to be a daddy.”
Martin became a single father to twin boys via surrogacy. His sons Matteo and Valentino were born in 2008 and are now 15 years old. In 2017, Martin married Jwan Yosef. About his marriage, he said, “My kids ask me about having two daddies and I tell them we are a part of a modern family,” he went on, “This is a beautiful sense of freedom.”
The couple welcomed their children, daughter Lucia and son Renn. The two children are now 5 and 4, respectively. They were born 9 months apart and conceived via surrogate.
Martin talked about how he always wanted a big family. He said in a 2020 interview, “There’s moments where I want 10 more, and then there are those mornings where everybody’s crying and I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe we’re fine at six [people in the family].’”
In July 2023, Martin and Yosef publicly announced they were divorcing after six years of marriage.
“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children,” the statement read in one portion.
Martin’s 15-year-old son Mattow is the older of his fraternal twin. He was born on Aug. 9, 2008, weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz. His name means “gift from God.”
Now that the twins are older, they accompany their dad to his amazing job. Matteo once joined Martin on the set of his music video, and the proud dad posted the special moment to Instagram. “Look who decided to accompany me to the filming of my new video,” he wrote in the caption as Matteo posed on a director’s chair, giving the camera a thumbs-up.
He shared in an interview about how the kids critique him on his singing skills. “They tell me, ‘Dad, yesterday was better than today. What’s going on with your singing?’ They are very honest, and I appreciate it,” Martin said in a 2020 interview.”[They say], ‘I like the dance that you did yesterday. Today was a little bit weak, Dad.’ This is what’s happening in this house.”
The second twin, Valentino, who is also 15 years old, was born minutes after his brother on Aug. 9, 2008, weighing 5 lbs. 6 oz. Valentino’s name means ‘brave one.’ Now as a 15 year old, the teenager hopes to one day be a YouTuber.
“Matteo is more into the arts and Valentino is gonna spend his life in front of a screen because he wants to be the best YouTuber in the world,” said.
Now, the teenagers look a lot like their dad and stand almost as tall as him. Martin shares a rare picture of the two boys next to him at a recent vacation.
Martin’s only daughter Lucia was born in 2018 and is now 5 years old. Martin and Yosef announced her birth on Instagram. The caption read, “Both her brothers and Jwan and I are completely in love with our baby and grateful to be able to start this 2019 with the best gift we could receive, the gift of life.”
The youngest addition to Martin’s family is his son Renn born through surrogacy while he was married to Yosef. The baby boy arrived on Oct. 29, 2019. The couple announced their son’s birth on Instagram, with a photo of them cradling the little bundle of joy, with a caption that read, “Our son Renn Martin-Yosef was born.“
