Eddie Murphy ordered to pay $61,000 monthly child support to Mel B
Former Spice Girl Mel B recently filed court papers to increase her child support payments, citing a significant reduction in her income. In response, Eddie Murphy, the father of Mel B’s daughter, has been ordered to pay $61,000 per month in child support.
This ruling comes after a previous agreement in which Murphy was paying $44,000 monthly. However, with Mel B’s income experiencing a significant downturn, she sought to modify the child support payments.
The court documents revealed that Mel B’s lawyers argued for the modification, stating, “Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel.
Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time.”
As part of the agreement, Murphy, who is considered an “extraordinarily high earner,” will make the increased payments starting from October of last year until their daughter Angel turns 18. Additionally, he has agreed to cover Mel B’s legal fees.
It is worth noting that Murphy initially denied being Angel’s father when Mel B became pregnant in 2006. However, a paternity test later confirmed his relationship to Angel. Despite their rocky beginnings, Murphy now plays an active role in his daughter’s life.
In her memoir, ‘Brutally Honest’, Mel B discussed their past relationship and subsequent split. She described Murphy as the love of her life but revealed that she was “spectacularly dumped” after leaving him for a few days to contemplate their future together.
