Tomatoes and cucumbers should never be paired in a salad, in case you didn’t know.
To begin, Ayurvedic principles state that you shouldn’t mix tomatoes and cucumbers in a salad because they have different digestion rates and may cause gas and bloating.
Vegetables have different digestion times, and combining fast-digesting tomatoes with slow-digesting cucumbers, for example, might lead to “stomach fermentation and contamination of other body parts.” The digestive system may go out of whack as a result of this mismatch, which can cause symptoms like bloating, gas, and abdominal pain.
Choose salad ingredients with similar digestion rates to maximize nutrient absorption and reduce the risk of digestive upset, as recommended by Ayurveda.
Other Unsettling CombinationsEating fruits after a meal or combining macaroni and cheese or meat can also cause digestive strife. Bloating can also be caused by eating too much protein or combining cheese with veggies.
Orange juice, being acidic, may interfere with the digestion of starches like bread or noodles. Consuming melons with other foods can cause stomach upset. Drinking a smoothie made of bananas and yogurt or milk and fruit can also impede digestion and upset the delicate balance of gut bacteria.
